dc.description.abstractModularity in product design give an impact on every stage of the product cycle and its importance has been increasingly recognized. It was found that modularity can reduce amount of waste and consumption of energy and natural resource, however, few precise methodologies of modular design, for example both considering structures and functions of modules, are found in the literature. This powerful concepts are not been exploited deeply by the boats and ships manufacturing, technology and development. A boat can be modularized in different forms. Different modularization scenarios can have different impacts on the life cycle characteristics of the craft (including variety for upgrade of the marine transportation characteristics) to be constructed from a smaller set of different components of a fishing boat. So, our research aims at proposing the modular design methodology for variety considering product structure
