Abstract
As the years progresses, the science and technology of our world advances, and so does our knowledge of construction and development. Malaysia is no exception to this development, the buildings in our country are more sophisticated and the design are more complex. However, local mosques have not changed much except for famous mosques. Mosques is also used only for places of worship even though they have various potentials to serve as an educational, political, economic, social and cultural centre for Muslims. Therefore, this study was conducted to improve the implementation of this one-stop mosque concept. Data collection for this study was done using literature review and questionnaire survey. The sample population was taken from civilians who visited the surau or local mosque in Penang. About 400 questionnaires were distributed to the respondents and each of these papers was retrieved for analysis. The results from the SPSS software show that most respondents gave a positive view of the concept of one-stop mosque. Most of the respondents also agreed on the facilities needed and what should be added to the one-stop mosque. This study also proposes the concept of the One-Stop Mosque to the Penang Islamic Religious Council (MAIPP) and the Public Works Department (JKR).
