dc.description.abstract | The development of advanced single lithium-ion conducting polyelectrolytes is critical for enhancing the performance and safety of lithium-ion batteries. This study focuses on synthesizing and characterizing lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI) functionalized with poly(butyl acrylate-co-styrene) (P(BA-co-St)) nanoparticles to create a single lithium-ion conducting polyelectrolyte. The functionalized nanoparticles were synthesized via seeded emulsion polymerization, and their structure and morphology were confirmed using techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Total Solid Content (TSC), and Particle Size Analysis. Electrochemical properties, including ionic conductivity, were evaluated using a Prostat (PRS-801) resistance system with a miniature two-point resistance system setup. The synthesized LiTFSI-P(BA-co-St) nanoparticles exhibited enhanced ionic conductivity and increased lithium concentration compared to traditional electrolytes. The thermal stability and mechanical properties of the samples were also assessed, showing improvements suitable for practical applications in lithium-ion batteries. Overall, the incorporation of P(BA-co-St) nanoparticles into LiTFSI significantly enhances the performance of the polyelectrolyte. This study provides valuable insights into designing highperformance single lithium-ion conducting polyelectrolytes, contributing to safer and more efficient lithium-ion batteries. | |
