Abstract
This project was conducted to analyze or to characterize the iron ore pellet and the effect of time in the iron ore pelletizing pocessing. The sampel of iron ore was taken from a mining company and they are KSG resourcess Sdn.Bhd. This iron ore was devided into two types, hematite ore and magnetite ore. To achieved the processing of the pelletizing of iron ore, the iron ore sample must liberate into the cominution processing. Cominution is a crushing and grinding process to liberate the interlock economic mineral from the gauge mineral. The preparation of the sample also included sazing prosess and consentration process for pelletizing of iron ore. The iron ore sample was the high grade sample (60%-67% Fe), so the concentration process was not available into this project. The sample was crushed and grinded into the 75µm and 45µm size where 75µm was used into the XRF and wet analysis and 45µm size sample was used for the pelletizing of iron ore. In this project, peridur was used as the binder for the pelletizing process. After finished the pelletizing process, the sample was dried and fired into the oven and furnace. The function of dried process was, to released the moisture content such as water from the pellet and fired process are to fired the binder. There are so many types of methods and testing to study the the effect of time in pelletizing process such as drop test, compressive strength test, tumble and abrasion test. The higher values for the drop test are 24 for magnetite and 7 for hematite. The higher value for compressive strength are 1.9kN for magnetite and 1.4kN for hematite. The higher value come from the 30 minute pelletizing operation.
