Abstract
The innovation to be implemented in the dairy farming process concerns the automation of bathing process in cows through the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) in collaboration with micro-PLC system. The main goal is to implement an efficient and low-cost method for bathing that increases both the cleanliness level and the quality of life of the animals. Historical ways of cow bathing include extensive use of manual efforts, which might prove unhygienic and increase diseases because of improper cleaning. The following challenges are tackled in the current project whereby a micro-PLC Arduino OPTA has been incorporated to control pumps as well as solenoid valves to enable plurality of water circulation dictated by environmental conditions detected by the incorporating sensors. Temperature and humidity measurements in the barn that is used for the bathing process are critical, and these are provided by the DHT22 sensor. It is operable by the Arduino Cloud to ensure that the farmers can monitor and manipulate the bathing process from any location making it convenient. Farmers hope that the result of this handy automation will enhance the hygiene level of the dairy farms thus leading to healthy cattle and better quality of milk. Thus, through the simplification of the bathing procedure and inclusion of the IoT characteristics in the project, the ideas of changing the concept of agricultural activity and increasing the motives for profit-oriented cultures in the dairy production will be critical. Finally, it reduces the level of difficulty in the bathing process of the animals and also the welfare needs of the animals, it meets the modern agriculture which is efficient and effective and the welfare of the animals.
