dc.description.abstract | The Planar SOFC is a high temperature fuel cell that is favorable for use in many applications due to its compactness; active areas can be stacked in close proximity to yield high power density. The primary mechanical design challenge related to high temperature operation. The design must minimize the non-uniform temperature distributions that contribute to stress in the planar components. Fuel utilization, temperature distribution, and average cell temperature are controlled by the delivery rate and the temperatures of fuel and air to the cell. In this project, software ANSYS-CFX with CFD code was used to determent the performance of SOFC with variant parameters. The simulation was focus on temperature distribution at (positive electrode electrolyte negative electrode) PEN and fuel mass fraction on the interface between anode and electrolyte. The simulation results were compared with mentioned prominent and latest research. Present works show that counter-flow is better than co-flow, average temperature increase for the co-flow & counter-flow with increase in delivery rate of hydrogen, but average temperature decrease with increasing delivery rate of air. These configurations are very useful to increase performance of the solid oxide fuel cell. | |
