Abstract
This study examines the characterization of tin and the assessment of mineral processing methodologies for tin recovery from cassiterite ore at Tekka Hill, Gopeng, Perak. Tin, a crucial industrial metal, is primarily derived from cassiterite ore. This study aims to prove whether the physical mineral process method carried out is capable of carrying out the process to recover tin. Tekka Hill was chosen due to its historical significance and potential in tin mining. An extensive geological survey was conducted, revealing a high concentration of tin in the ore and minimal impurities. The evaluation of various processing techniques, including gravity and magnetic separation, demonstrated the highest tin recovery rates. The Mozley table showed superior performance in separating cassiterite from gangue minerals. The optimized parameters for each technique were documented, providing valuable reference for future processing endeavours. The findings contribute to the advancement of mineral processing knowledge and provide practical solutions to enhance tin production in the region.
