Abstract
Many lumbar interbody fusion cages have been implanted for the treatment of degenerative dise disease. Their primary function is to stabilize the motion segment while providing a route for load transfer to occur between adjacent vertebral bodies. The purpose of this final year project was to model the finite element model of the threaded cylindrical interbody cage and analyzing the stresses in cylindrical interbody cage constructs. A finite element model was created by using finite element analysis software Msc. Patran And Nastran based on the previous lumbar interbody fusion cages geometry that have been found on literature reviews. To apply the load that acting on the cage, the model was divided into two part which are the above and the lower part. The lower part have been used as a fix part and the upper part have been used as the area of the applying loads. In this project, there are distribution load, nodal force and three type of material properties that have been used. From the result of the analysis, material properties changed didn't give any changes to the stresses that will occur but give changes in displacements that will occur. The shear and normal stress were increased as the degree of inclined loading from the vertical position arise.
