Abstract
CFD models are developed to simulated incompressible and mildly compressible flows using two famous solvers, FLUENT/UNS. FLUENT/UNS adopts the pressure correction scheme, embodies by the algorithm called SIMPLE (default algorithm). A Series of simulation are carried out to study the effect of free turbulence intensity on the surface – flow characteristics, including the velocity vectors, turbulence kinetic energy (k) and Dissipation rate (), under free stream turbulence of speed 10m/s, 20 m/s, and 30 m/s and turbulence intensity from 2.4 % to 5.39%, Using the computational fluid dynamic, FLUENT/UNS on Piper J-3 cub light air craft. The free stream turbulence significantly affects the surface flow and aerodynamic performances.
