Abstract
In this study, the effect of aging and weathering were investigated in the presence of multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) content on the self-healing rubber. In earlier research, the natural rubber (NR) added with zinc thiolate to form self-healing rubber compound then these masterbatch then is mixed with other ingredients. To investigate the aging and weathering behaviour on the self-healing natural rubber, several tests would conduct under three different aging conditions which is physical aging (creep test and fatigue test), heat aging test and accelerated weathering test. In term of physical aging test, the result for the creep and fatigue test, the result showed the strain and fatigue life for the self-healing rubber sample with MWCNT content is higher compared to the strain of the self-healing sample without MWCNT. In term of heat aging test where the sample placed into oven with different temperature at different days. From the tensile test, the result showed the tensile strength of the self-healing with MWCNT content higher compared to the tensile strength of the self-healing without MWCNT before and after heat aging. In term of accelerated weathering test, the self-healing was placed into the QUV machine at different hours. From the tensile test, the result showed the tensile strength of the self-healing with MWCNT content higher before and after accelerated weathering compared to the tensile strength of the self-healing without MWCNT.
