dc.description.abstractThis paper presents the research work in facility layout design of the distribution board (DB) production plant. Distribution boards are built in a factory on an assembly line that consists of feeder stations, cover assembly station, main assembly station and packing. The focus of this research is to develop and analyze layout alternatives based on the performance measures with a view to improve production efficiency, mainly on the productivity. For this purpose, the tools and techniques available for layout designed were investigated. Related data were collected, and alternative layouts were developed using WITNESS simulation software. Finally, these layouts were then being analyzed and evaluated using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach to suggest the best possible layout.
