This research tries to examine the relevance of educational tourism in Malaysia in relation to its contribution to the economy and how key determinants influence the demand for educational tourism. It is noteworthy that educational tourism has increasingly gained prominence as a vital tourism sub-sector since the dawn of the new millennium. In fact, its potential as an emerging tourism sub-sector was already in evidence at the tail-end of the 20th century. However, the role and nature of educational tourism's contribution to the Malaysian economy has not been widely investigated by researchers. Thus, this research attempts to fill this lacuna by utilising a series of parametric and non-parametric techniques to determine educational tourism's relevance to the Malaysian economy. The research is premised on three objectives. The first objective is to investigate the impact of educational tourism on economic growth by using an augmented version of the Solow growth model.
