Abstract
In manufacturing industry, cutting process is a common types of process used to produce
products. The process is fast but need high cost because of the usage of machines. To
minimize the cost for cutting process, scissor can be use to cut relevant thickness of sheet
or plate. Although, the process needed more time to complete and depend on the
operator, it is low cost compare to usage of machines if the quantity of products produce
is low. Analysis of force in shear cutting of a plate is a research about the force applied to
the scissor which will cut the plate and bend the scrap with cutting force and bending
force. in this research, other parameters should be taken into account and they’re some
relationship between them. The parameters involve in this experiment are distance from
applied force to the fulcrum, distance from fulcrum to cutting force, deflection of scrap,
angle of scrap, cutting distance and distance from edge.
To succeed in this experiment, some setup should be make to provide good environment
and realistic result.
In judging the relationship between those parameters which we get from the readings,
comparison with the theory of cutting using machine can provide reliability to this
experiment.
From the relationship between the parameters involve, we can make arrangement to suit
the cutting process to be more efficient.
