Abstract
Optimising blasting parameters in opencast mines and quarries is essential to enhancing safety, operating efficiency, and the impact on the environment. Electronic detonators are becoming more popular as electric detonators are frequently unreliable and imprecise. This study examines the drawbacks of electric detonators, investigates the benefits of electronic ones, and employs electronic detonators to optimise blasting settings while determining if this move is financially feasible. The influence of present blasting techniques on important metrics is thoroughly examined as part of the integration process.
Benefits including better accuracy, safer procedures, less of an influence on the environment, more operational efficiency, and possible cost savings are anticipated. This shift raises community safety standards, promotes sustainable practices and economic growth, and provides legislators with information regarding efficient mining rules. The mining industry seeks to solve the drawbacks of conventional methods by implementing cutting-edge technology into blasting procedures, resulting in more accurate and regulated operations.
Electronic detonators are being used in open-pit mining and quarrying operations with the ultimate objective of striking a balance between profits, public safety, and environmental sustainability. This initiative serves as a reminder of how crucial innovation is to be improving the sustainability and efficacy of mining operations, which in turn benefits the sector, the local economy, and the environment.
