Abstract
This project work aims to investigate the capability of blending recycled High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) with virgin High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) of injection-molded plastic parts. The study also focuses on optimizing the plastic injection molding process parameters for the blended HDPE materials. Recycled HDPE, obtained from post-consumer plastic waste, is mixed with varying percentages of virgin HDPE to create different blend ratios. The plastic blends are then processed through injection molding, and the resulting parts are evaluated for their mechanical properties, dimensional accuracy, and surface quality. The process parameters, including melt temperature, injection pressure, cooling time, and mold temperature, are systematically varied to find the optimal conditions for the injection molding process. The experimental results will provide insights into the influence of the blend ratio and process parameters on the properties of the injection-molded parts. The findings of the project will provide valuable insights into the capabilities of recycled HDPE blended with virgin HDPE for injection molding applications. The results will contribute to the
understanding of the feasibility and potential benefits of using recycled materials in the manufacturing industry. The optimization guidelines for the injection molding process parameters will help enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the overall sustainability of the plastic production process. By promoting the use of recycled HDPE and optimizing the injection molding process, the project aims to support sustainable practices in the plastic manufacturing industry. It highlights the importance of utilizing recycled materials and maximizing their potential while ensuring high-quality and costeffective production of injection-molded plastic parts.
