Abstract
Hybrid vehicles have gained attention from peoples around the world since it could reduce the fuel consumption and minimize the emission to the environment. Among the several kinds of hybrid vehicles, Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicles (HHV) also one of the hybrid cars that provide many advantages due to their unique powertrain and energy storage architecture. This study is conducted to improve the fuel consumption and increase the efficiency of HHV. To complete this research, many methods that we have been using which is Computational Aiding Design (CAD), MATLAB, Microsoft Excel and also hands-on work in order to achieve the objective of this Final Year Project (FYP). To build a HHV car is not an easy task since there are several factors that we need to consider such as vehicle weight, road gradient, traffic patterns, and also driver behaviour itself. The simulation of MATLAB has been used to get the right size of the sprocket ratio for the drivetrain since it will affect the power delivered from the engine to the wheels and transmitting torque from engine to the wheels. To evaluate the fuel consumption of the HHV car, the car needs to be tested on the empty road to avoid any accidents because the car is still under research. Then, a conventional car also needs to be tested in order to compare the result which is more fuel economic. The main objective of this research is to contribute a better understanding of fuel economy for Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicles and convey insightful information for researchers, manufacturers, and policymakers.
