The study of Tin-Tungsten Recovery from Tailings investigates the recovery of tin from mining tailings using physical processing methods. The research includes comprehensive mineral characterization and concentration procedures. Through mineral characterization, the distribution and relationships of tin minerals within the tailings were identified, providing crucial information for the development of enhanced recovery techniques. The mineral concentration study utilized gravity, magnetic, and electrostatic separation methods to efficiently extract tin particles from the waste material. The characterization results demonstrated a significant increase in cassiterite concentration from 2.9% to 30.8%, indicating successful tin recovery. The presence of a well-graded distribution of tin minerals supports the efficacy of the employed methods. Additionally, the minimal tungsten content remaining in the tailings implies that conventional processing at the Bukit Kachi mine effectively recovered tungsten. The study confirms that the combination of gravity separation, magnetic separation, and electrostatic separation have all proven to be reasonably effective in separating valuable minerals from tailings, as evidenced by the higher weight percentage of concentrates compared to tailings, which has increased from 34.9%, 41%, and 54% for each separation technique, respectively. However, the findings also suggest that to achieve further enhance mineral recovery and reduce the interlocking of minerals, advanced processing methods include froth flotation, ultrafine grinding, and enhanced gravity separators should be employed.
