dc.description.abstractIn this report, an assessment was approach to present the laser light scattering measurement on abrasive paper roughness. Stylus type roughness machine and laser light scattering method are using to done all the experiments. Roughness parameter, R, was use to determine the irregularities profile. The seattered pattern on abrasive paper surface was reflected by He-Ne laser and image was captured by CCD camera. The captured image is then processed by using image processing technique and MATLAB programming software. Result data from the image processing, value ratio of white to black area was computed. The data is then use to draw a statistical graph with surface roughness which was measure by stylus roughness machine. The statistical graph is very useful in non-contact measurement. By using the equation or the graph computed, surface roughness can be determined.
