Abstract
A preliminary survey is carried out in Sungkai Perak, using a electrical resistivity method and seismic refraction method for a potential industrial mineral deposit. The objective of the survey is to study the survey area subsurface geology and find a potential industrial mineral deposit. The survey for electrical resistivity method is carried out in two survey line which is line L1 and L2 with a cable length extending to 400 meter and 200 meter respectively, which are perpendicular to each other while only one survey line is carried out for seismic refraction method. The survey line for seismic refraction method is placed on the same line as the L1 line with a shorter cable length compare to the resistivity cable which 115 meter. Both seismic refraction and electrical resistivity survey data is processed using a different software and inversion is carried out in order to produce 2-D cross section model of the subsurface geology. The electrical resistivity method is conducted using 61 stainless steel electrode for line L1 and 41 stainless steel electrode for line L2, while the seismic refraction method is carried out using 24 geophone placed along the line L1. Variations of electrical resistivity of the earth subsurface geology is displayed for the electrical resistivity method while variations on the velocity speed on different layers of the earth’s subsurface is displayed for seismic refraction method. Both survey data will be interpret to determine the existence of potential industrial mineral deposit in the area.
