dc.description.abstract | This project was aimed at developing an automated weld inspection system comprising image capture hardware and weld interpretation software for weld quality inspection in various industries, such as oil and gas, power plants and chemical processing plants. The quality of weld is determined from a radiograph taken normally using gamma radiation. The radiographs are processed and inspected manually by qualified weld inspectors. In a typtcal constnK.'1ion of a plant, hundreds of radiographs must be inspected within a short duration. Manual inspection is tedious, slow and very subjective. An automated weld inspection system will overcome most of the problems retating to manual Inspection, particularly speed and subjectivity of manual interpretation. This project was proposed to develop such as system. | en_US |
