dc.description.abstract | The study was aimed to investigate the effect of 3D printer parameters on the mechanical properties of 3D printed polylactic acid and triethylene glycol blend for tissue engineering application. The 3D parameters studied in this research were nozzle temperature, plate bed temperature and printing speed. The PLA was plasticized with TEG in ratio 85/15 by using single screw extrusion to obtain 3D printed filament. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) was set in a mid-infrared region of 400-4000 cm-1 to determine the physical interaction between PLA/TEG. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to study thermal properties such as of glass transition temperature, melting temperature and cold crystallization temperature as TEG was added into PLA. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was set at 100x of magnification level and it observed the filament layer arrangement for 3D printed PLA sample showed well organized arrangement compared to 3D printed PLA/TEG sample. The mechanical properties of PLA/TEG was characterized using tensile test via Instron. Besides, the tensile strength and hardness of the of the PLA/TEG has been reduced due to incorporation of TEG in PLA matrix. The density test showed there is no significant changes of PLA/TEG 3D printed sample. Tolerances for the 3D printer can be negligible as the tolerances value for each sample was too small. The developed 3D printed of plasticized PLA had achieved to a desired mechanical properties, as the result parameter at 80°C plate bed temperature, 180°C nozzle temperature and 90 mm/s show the best parameter for 3D printer. | en_US |
