dc.description.abstract | Mining and quarrying are classified as one of the major economic sectors in Malaysia. According to Bank Negara Malaysia, the economy of mining and quarrying is expecting to record a 3.5% growth in 2016 from 4.7% in 2015. As the percent of growth is increasing, productivity of quarry has to be increased as well. Apart from that, with increasing demand from other industries, quarry need to cope with the situation to produce materials efficiently. In this study, cycle time has been investigated as the main issue that affects the productivity. Some of the interrelated criteria that affect poductivity including truck-excavator match factor (efficiency), tonnage per hour (TPH), safety and operator efficiency. The optimum cycle time without neglecting safety aspects was studied and estimated. Time and motion were analyzed using Fleet Production and Cost (FPC) software and calculated manually. The estimations resulted in achieving new parameters and optimum cycle time. Implementing the estimated cycle time to the real case study, a new approach to increase productivity was obtained. | en_US |
