Abstract
Two commercial fillers, there are colloidal silica and carbon black are used as a filler in NBR latex. Different loadings at 6phr and 8phr shows the optimum mechanical properties. The optimum loading for colloidal silica was achieved at 6phr and 8phr for carbon black. The effect of reinforcing based on particle size and interaction between rubber-filler was investigated. The effect of different types of accelerator is conducted to overcome Type IV Allergy that may arise from usage of accelerators with carbamate group accelerator to prevent the formation of Nitrosamine compound. The effect of different accelerator on mechanical properties of NBR latex film at optimum loading was investigated. The results show that NBR latex films with substitution of semi ultra-fast accelerator have a slower vulcanization speed compared to films with ultra-fast accelerator. The effect of pre-vulcanization process on mechanical properties of NBR latex films at different types of filler and filler loading are also investigated. The results show mechanical properties of NBR films latex with pre-vulcanization is higher than without pre-vulcanization process, this is mainly influenced by the higher crosslink density in NBR latex film prepared with the pre-vulcanization process.
