Abstract
In this research work, the gold ore samples of High Grade (HG) which was obtained from Selinsing Gold Mine were studied. The gold ore were undergoes characterisation to identify the minerals association and the determination of chemical composition was done via XRF, XRD, SEM/EDX analysis including optical and mineralogical microscope study. Several assaying methods were conducted to ensure that the approximate true value of the gold content can be determined. Two gold assaying methods used in this research work were Bulk Leach Extractable Gold (BLEG) for determination of free gold and Fire Assay technique. For the complete liberation of the gold particles, the samples were ground until 80% passing 75μm. From mineralogical study, quartz, sulphur, iron and rutile were found in the ore samples. SEM/EDX and XRD analysis also has confirmed that the element presence is quartz, sulphur, iron and rutile. The Bulk Leach Extractable Gold (BLEG) tests give a total amount of free gold about 7.702 g/T and 5.064 g/T respectively. The unleachable gold stays in the leftover residue which needs to be analysed further. The fire assay gives the total amount of Au which is about 9.158 g/T. From the cyanidation leaching of 200ppm gold ore sample, the addition of hydrogen peroxide and lead nitrate yield gold content 6.825 g/T meanwhile for 300ppm of gold leaching, the addition of hydrogen peroxide yield gold content 5.484 g/T.
