Control of diabetes at early diagnosis would prevent or slow the progress of complications that might happen. When someone is diagnosed as having diabetes, he or she should be advised about the treatment or method that can be helps in reducing the risk of getting acute or chronic complications that might attack in long term duration. Among the chronic disease that might attack diabetic patient are hypertension, cardiavascular disease, retinal damage, chronic renal failure and gangrene. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the probability of diabetic patient tends to develop kidney disease using logistic regression model given the result of his or her blood test and other predictor variables. This study took about 1 0 weeks between the end of November 2009 to February 2010 to complete the data recorded. The data was taken from Specialist Medical Clinic, Hospital Melaka. Sample was chosen randomly, depends on the number of patients that was treat at the diabetic clinic every Monday. I managed to get a complete of 192 petients' record. Explanatory variables that maybe associated with kidney disease were included in this analysis are age, type of diabetes mellitus, body mass index, fasting blood sugar, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, urea and creatinine level in blood. The analysis was done using the SPSS version 15.0. Binary logistic regression analysis was used X to assesed the association of eight explanatory variables with the response variable that is having any kidney disease or not. The best fitted model was found. Four out of eight predictor variables revealed a significant positive association with kidney disease includes age, fasting blood sugar, urea and creatinine level in blood. When a person does not make enough insulin, or respond to the insulin that is present, the body cannot process glucose and it builds up in the bloodstream. High levels of blood glucose increase the risk that a person with diabetes will progress to kidney disease. While urea and creatinine level that are above the normal range tends to show a sign of abnormality of kidney function filtration. Age would somehow deteriorate certain organs depends on the patients' lifesyle risk factor and diet consuming. Therefore diabetic patients should control their diabetes and should take the test to diagnose kidney disease regularly as to slower the progress of getting kidney disease or prevent it from worsening when it was spot earlier.en_US
