Abstract
Rock fragmentation is the most important thing because it directly effects the operational cost. Sieving method is accurate method but it is not possible when dealing with huge amount of fragmented rock that came from blasting. The determination of the new site constant K and β value in the area granite quarry was carried out because the site constant maybe differs from one quarry to another due to geological factor. The study area for this research is at FYS Marketing Sdn. Bhd. The image analysis software such as WipFrag has become the practical and useful tools for determination of fragmentation of the muck pile. WipFrag software can give the size distribution by using the edge detection of the particle in the images. The determination of K and β for predictor is using regression analysis. The usage of the Australian Standard for the site constant (K=1140, β=1.6) as the existing practice not necessarily accurate because maybe geology in Australia is different with the Malaysia. A new site constant value for granite quarry was found to be more accurate than the existing practice that use site constant from the Australian Standard (A.S2187,1993) which is practiced by most quarries and mines in Malaysia. The usage of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) can take the wide image easily without need to take many image.
