Abstract
The effect of vulcanization temperature (140°C-160°C) on curing characteristic, mechanical and physical properties of NR/ cation-exchanged treated attapulgite nanocomposites was investigated in this work. Rheological measurement, fatigue life, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis (FTIR) were conducted and the results were analysed. It was found that the scorch and cure time of NR/ cation-exchanged treated attapulgite nanocomposites decrease with increasing of vulcanization temperature. The fatigue life was higher at 150°C and slightly decreased with the increasing of vulcanization temperature. The SEM reveal the agglomeration of NR/ cation-exchanged treated attapulgite nanocomposites occurred on the fatigue fracture surface of the sample which at vulcanization temperature of 140°C. The optimum properties were found at 140°C of vulcanization temperature and most of the mechanical and physical properties were decreased with the increasing of vulcanization temperature. On top of that, the effect of vulcanization system on cure characteristics, mechanical and physical properties of NR/cation-exchanged treated attapulgite nanocomposites was also investigated. Efficient vulcanization (EV), semi-EV (SEV) and conventional system (CV) were chosen as the vulcanization systems. It is obviously showed that the CV system compound have the better properties than others.
