The main objective of this research is to examine and characterize the chemical and mineralogical of the gold-bearing rocks from Peranggih deposit, Raub, Pahang. The Optical Microscope and Scanning Elctron Microscope (SEM) equipped with and Energy-Dispersive X-ray analyzer (EDX) were used for ore morphological studies, mineral liberation studies, and mineral association assessment. X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD) were used to determine the gold-bearing rocks composition and to identify the mineral phases respectively. SEM images with EDX analysis revealed various optical characteristics of the ore, while XRF results showed that the major element present in Peranggih gold deposit such as Pb, Cu and Zn. Phase analysis by XRD revealed the presence of metallic phases as Pyrite, Arsenopyrite and Magnetite. Polarized microscope detected the mineral that may present in this research were pyrite, arsenopyrite, quartz and hematite. The gold-bearing ore liberation was observed at particle size below 150 μm. This indicates that particles size has a significant effect on the recovery of the gold-bearing rocks.en_US
