Abstract
Currently there is a change in the mortality and morbidity rates apparently due to the existence of diabetes and hypertension. This led to the need for health management for the respective patients. The heal' th problems caused by the lifestyle diseases not only affect the individual but it also affects those who depend on them, this includes their family and organizations. Seeing this as a feasible business opportunity, a group of Postgraduate students conducted a research and provided a system called e-Health Companion. Health Technology Pvt. Ltd will initiate its business at Penang first then expand it throughout the other states at Malaysia and then to Asian countries. 'An Expense to cut your Expense' will be the tag line used for promotes the e-Health Companion. The purpose of this study was to investigate potential user's acceptance of e-Health Companion by identifying the determinants of their intention to use e-health in the future. The study was performed to investigate the potential user's acceptance of e-Health Companion by identifying the factors of their intention to use e-health in the future by using Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A paper-based and electronic-based survey was conducted among the public who are in the age range of 25-60 years old. Hundred and thirty-seven respondents returned the survey form and out of this sample sixty had been used for data analysis. Among the sixty individuals, twenty-four were the female respondents and thirty-six were male respondents. At the end of the study we found that among the seven hypotheses used for testing, four hypotheses showed a strong and medium relationship among the variables. As a conclusion, we found that the factors that influence the acceptance level of users towards using e-health monitoring systems were attitude, perceived usefulness, compatibility and intention to use. At the same time, risk, ease of use and accessibility also play role in influencing the attitude of users towards using ehealth monitoring system when it is implemented.
