Abstract
This project aimed to study the geological structure of limestone and to determine
the effectiveness accuracy between FACET plugin and Discontinuity Set Extractor (DSE)
software in the geotechnical mapping of discontinuities. An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle
(UAV) was used for geotechnical mapping while Agisoft Photoscan 3-D, Cloud
Compare, FACET plugin, Discontinuity Set Extractor (DSE), and Dips Software were
used to analyze the photogrammetry method before compared with conventional
mapping. The study area is at CIMA Quarry, Perlis with two (2) windows were identified
comprised the whole quarry. The result from DSE shows three (3) discontinuity set for
Window A while four (4) discontinuity set for Window B. The most dominant direction
for Window A at N-S trend while for Window B at SE-NW trend. The result from FACET
shows four (4) discontinuity set for Window A and four (4) discontinuity set for Window
B. The most dominant direction for Window A at N-S trend while for Window B at E-W
trend. Rossette plot results for Window A shows a significantly different from manual
mapping while similar for Window B. In comparison, data extracted from Discontinuity
Set Extractor (DSE), are more in quantities compared to FACET plugin so it provides
more accurate data. In conclusion, DSE suitable to use for the photogrammetry mapping
compared to FACET plugin. To get better validation accuracy, more window need to be
taken for the future research. So, photogrammetry mapping method are valid to the
manual mapping.
