dc.description.abstractThere are two major contributions of this research. One was the writing on the life of Sir W.E Maxwell of which, the article entitled An Imperial Or A Personal Legacy: A Snapshot Of The Lives Of Sir W.E. Maxwell And Sir F.A. Swettenham In British Malaya was presented at ICAS6 in Korea in 2008 and schedule to be published in the Journal of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society in June 20 11 (due to some technical errors, it has to be postponed to this year, or else it should have been published in December 2010 (see the email attached from the copy editor). This above paper draws together and evaluates a number of historical events that took place during the early period of British colonization of Malaya, especially those that involved the official duties and the personal lives of the two colonial officers under study, namely Sir Frank Athelstane Swettenham and Sir William Edward Maxwell.en_US
