Abstract
The circuit that is being study is in the Kota Bunyih Mill at Rahman Hydraulic Tin Sdn.Bhd that involves about the grinding and separation stage. For this circuit, the liberation of the cassiterite by rod mill from the interlocking gangue is very vital. As the product of the rod mill will be fed into the separation process by jig. Thus, the degree of liberation is determining the grade of concentrate as well as the jigging operation recovery. Beside that, the separation being done by the jigging process is very important to be effective as to prevent the losses of cassiterite through jigging and also to reduce the amount of the gangue mineral entering the tin dressing operation. The efficiency of grinding process of rod mill is being determined by the liberation size of the cassiterite and the particle size distribution analysis. The efficiency of the separation process by jig is being determined by the recoveries at each stage as well as the analysis of tailing to detect there is no present of cassiterite. The efficiency of the rod mill in Kota Bunyih Mill can be classified as effective in producing liberated cassiterite. Both the rod mill are producing product size of below the liberated size. The separation by the jigging process for the three stages can be said to be efficient. This is because , the presence of the cassiterite recovered for each stages increases with the reduction in the amount of gangue mineral recovered together in the concentrate region. Although so, for the primary stage tailing, there are presence of cassiterite of coarse size in high amount being detected. This might be due to operating parameter in which pegging occur and the amount of feed supplied is not consistence.
