The growth of optoelectronic devices and LEDs has led to an increase in various segments of application. Silicone polymers are being used to encapsulate integrated circuit from being damage. Thus, silicone polymer mostly can be found in LED encapsulation. The reason of choosing silicone polymers instead of other polymer is that silicone polymer is thermally stable, highly transparent and high refractive index. High density polymer with amorphous structure is preferred in order to promote the refractive index of polysiloxane. The research focuses on two series and one control sample was used to compare the result obtained. First series is the condensation process which involves the dimethyldiphenylsiloxane while second series is the condensation process which involves both dimethyldiphenylsiloxane and POSS. The chemical structures of samples were confirmed by FTIR. Meanwhile, the optical properties were determined by UV-Vis and refractive index. Thermal properties were characterized by CTE, DSC and TGA. From the analysis, it was found that optical properties of polysiloxane can be improved by increasing the phenyl content and incorporate POSS structure to the system. This is due to the high polarizability of phenyl group and the bulky structure of POSS.en_US
