The focus of this research is to create a method for classification and characterisation of soils using microwaves. This research used two methods that are the transmission of microwave using Gunn Diode Transmitter with frequency of 10.525 GHz and the pipette method to get the soil mechanical analysis. There are six types of soil have been identified, that is sand, clay, loam, silty clay loam, silty loam and clay loam. The research is divided into two parts according to soil layers (t) and (2t). The results show that, the soil type can be identified using intensity and FWHM values based on the percentages of the clay with accuracy of 80%. The findings from this research also shows that the microwave method can be utilised to classify the soil samples.en_US
