Implant in the form of plates and metal fasteners is essential devices in the treatment of fractured and broken bones in human skeletons. An implant is regarded as a luxury item due to its high cost and limited availability. The implants are still imported and information regarding their production is limited and controlled by the existing manufactures. Since there are no specific bodies responsible in producing implants to fulfill the expanding needs domestically, efforts must be taken in identifying an effective manufacturing process. Stainless steel 316L is selected as the material for the product due to its availability and low cost in the domestic market. The redesign of the implant is carried out in parallel with the identified process of manufacture. The tools used in the manufacturing of the implants are designed, fabricated and tested for their effectiveness in producing prototype that match the manufacturing standards. Cost evaluation is made with the objective of proving the appropriateness of the selected manufacturing process. This research ends with recommendations on the specifications of vital machines suitable for the implant production. It is very much hoped that the selected manufacturing process will pave the way for the local manufacturing industry to fulfill the arising needs without having to rely on others.en_US
