Abstract
Mathematics deals with a variety of number systems. A number system is a
set of numbers, together with one or more operations, such as addition or
multiplication. The simplest number system in real analysis is the natural numbers.
The set of natural numbers is constructed from the viewpoint of set theoretical
approach. In this paper, the discussion start with the basic set theory and the relevant
properties. The brief history of numbers will then be revealed. The construction of
numbers will be started with natural numbers, and then extended to the integers,
rational numbers and finally the real numbers.
