Leaching process of Malaysian Iron Ore was carried out by using hydrochloric and sulphuric acid as leachant without any presence of catalyst. Iron ore was characterized by using a few techniques such as XRD, XRF, LOI and SEM. From XRD analysis, major peak of iron are detected with high noise and thick profile due to the sensitivity of the XRD detector and a content of complex mixture of many elements. Analysis of XRF shown that iron ore sample consist of a few major element such as iron, silica and alumina. The metallurgical grade of Malaysian iron ore samples consist of 54% Fe2O3, 18% SiO2 and 13% Al2O3. The acid leaching kinetics of iron ore are conducted by manipulating several parameters such as particles size, types of acids and temperature. Particle size of iron ore used are -300+250μm and -75μm. The acid concentration of 1 M and 2 M are used. While, the temperatures conducted are room temperature, 50°C and 80°C. All of parameters are simultaneously tested by conducting DOE. The optimum leaching extraction achieved when the condition of the experiment is at -75μm, 80°C and the concentration of 2 M of HCl. It gives 15.8% of extraction. Kinetic models used in the experiment are chemically control process and diffusion rate control process. Then, the leaching process is influenced by diffusion rate control process.en_US
