Abstract
The main purpose of this project is to study the affect of the usage of graphic calculator towards the learning of form 4 Mathematics. The other purpose is to identify the advantages of using graphic calculator in the teaching and learning process of Mathematics at upper form level. The topic that was chosen in this study is a form four topic, Statistics. 30 form four students were selected as research samples from a secondary school in Perak. The samples were asked to answer two types of test, pre test and post test which have a same level and structure. During the pre test, graphic calculator , was not used but was only used during the post test. The score results obtained from the two test were used to analyse the quantitative data, meanwhile the qualitative data was obtained from questionnaires. The questionnaires were also divided into two sets, before and after using the graphic calculator. The data obtained from the score of the pre test and the post test were analysed by using Statistical Package For The Social Sciences (SPSS). Meanwhile the data from the questionnaires were analysed by using graph and the percentage of the chosen answer. The results show that there are significant difference between the pre test and the post test score. The mean score of the post test is also higher compared to the pre test. From the questionnaires analysis, majority of the samples agreed that graphic calculator was able to make the learning of the topic Statistics easier and fun. This shows that the use of graphic calculator affect the interest and the achievement of the students in Mathematics.
