The oxidative ageing of unpurified natural rubber vulcanizates were investi gated by tension set measurements, carried out under accelerated heat ageing condition. Vulcanizate,s with and without the addition of conventional antioxidants were used and the results were compared with that obtained from oxygen absorption and stress relaxation measurements. It was found that, the order of oxidisibility, for the , unprotected vUlcanizates cured with various vulcanizing systems was the same as that obtained from oxygen absorption and stress relaxation studies carried out on protected vulcanizates (i.e.: CV system >EV system> TMTD> Peroxide). When mixtures of antioxidants were used, no synergism were observed, even though synergistic effect between thiocarbamate and the amine or phenol antioxi dants were reported.en_US
