The Dynamic Relationship Between Uncertainty In Climate Change Policy And Energy Deployment In The United States
    (2025-10)
    Raza, Syed Qasim
In the current epoch, the united states of america (us) has been witnessing environmental degradation due to excessive anthropogenic activities mainly derived from intemperate energy consumption. To replenish environmental sustainability, the us has introduced several climate policies. However, these policies are unstable, and the uncertainty factor is associated with them. Hence, the us climate policy uncertainty (cpu) level has also been on the rise since the turn of the 21st century, significantly impacting the economy, energy sector, and environment. The existing literature on the cpu-energy nexus is relatively sparse and renders inconsistent findings. Also, the theoretical aspects of the cpu-energy nexus are vague. Based on the discourse mentioned above, the primary aim of this thesis is to scrutinize the influence of cpu on (non)-renewable energy deployment (i.E., energy production and consumption). In particular, the study has three core objectives. The first objective involves investigating the impact of cpu on renewable energy consumption (ren). In contrast, the second objective examines the effect of cpu on different sources of non-renewable energy consumption (nrec).

The Phenomena Of Paternalism: The Contestation Between Democracy And Traditionalism Within Shiite Communities In Iraq
    (2025-02)
    Abbas, Alabyadh Muhtadi Ridha
This research delves into the evolution of paternalism in iraqi shiite history, focusing on the ayatollah as a paternalistic figure for the shia community and exploring paternal social thought within shiite culture. By investigating key changes across different periods, identifying the generative mechanisms operative in each era, and analyzing the manifested processes associated with these mechanisms. Utilizing a retroductive research strategy and historical sociology with a qualitative approach, the study identifies generative mechanisms, including tribal culture, islamic religion, shiite theology, and the ayatollah system. Within shia iraq, the mechanisms for paternal social thought involve shiite theology and the usul al-faqih approach for deriving religious law, as well as aspects like an independent economy and educational institutions. In the 19th century, the shiite uṣūlism school asserted control over iran and iraq, establishing the taqlid system. This system emphasized laypeople's emulation of the most knowledgeable ayatollah, where the ayatollah, based on ijtihad, interferes or restricts others' freedom, engaging in discussions on their behalf. Taqlid emerged to counter political modernity entering iraq and iran, linking the shia community with ayatollahs to oversee modernity and limit liberalism. Moving to the 20th century, ayatollah naini supported iran's constitutional movement, while ayatollah al-nouri rejected it. In 1921,

The Moderating Effects Of Business Environment On The Relationship Between Foreign Direct Investment And Economic Growth In China
    (2024-10)
    Wang, Jiechen
Over the last 30 years, china has experienced outstanding economic growth and has emerged as a key destination for substantial foreign direct investment (fdi). However, the pace of fdi inflows has decelerated in recent years. In response, the chinese government has introduced a policy to enhance the business environment. Motivated by this economic scenario, this study focuses on the role of fdi inflows and the business environment in promoting china’s economic growth from 1985 to 2020. This study constructs business-environment indicators concerning institutional quality, financial development, infrastructure, and innovation using the entropy weight method. Subsequently, this study employed econometric techniques such as unit root tests and johansen-juselius cointegration tests to determine the order of integration of the variables and the presence of long-run relationships. This study not only focuses on the direct relationship but also profoundly explores the impact of fdi on china's economic growth by considering the role of the business environment as a moderating factor. Furthermore, each sub-element of the business environment is explored separately to understand their respective impacts better. This study confirms that fdi and economic growth in china have a long-run relationship.
