Abstract
Internet, a thing that has immersed into our lives, no matter elder, youngster, or children. Nowadays, every one of us has connected to the Internet for studying, working and staying in contact with our loved ones. As we can see, the Internet plays a crucial role in our lives. To ensure we can connect to the Internet steadily, we must service and monitor our Internet devices such as home-grade access points, especially in public areas like school buildings. To monitor numerous numbers of home-grade access points requires a big cost and increases as the number of devices increases. Hence, this project is to create an automated home-grade access points monitoring system that can monitor numerous units of home-grade access points regularly with additional function of record access points’ information in excel file and email-base alert system. To accomplish the purpose of this project, the automated home-grade access points monitoring system will be developed using Python programming language. Selenium packages are used to browse the admin interface web page and extract MAC address to ensure the access point is operational and on. Besides, time taken to run an iteration by system that implemented in laptop with Wi-Fi connection, laptop with Ethernet connection, Raspberry pi with Wi-Fi connection and Raspberry Pi with Ethernet connection were compared and the least time consume set up is raspberry pi with Ethernet connection. This system is able to monitor all units of home-grade access points in the building.
