dc.description.abstract | With the rapid development of FET sensor technology, it is possible to realize the implementation of vapour sensing sensor in medical. The use of FET device as gas sensor has been of interest due to it shows a high sensitivity to hydrogen and other hydrogen-containing gases. Sensor operate with conducting polymer can perform well in room temperature and use low power. The detect limit are rather low for sensor based on conducting polymers. For redox or acid-base active analytes, the detect limit is smaller than 1 ppm, while for inert organic compound analytes, the limit is about several ppm either lower. Previously, the researches were focused on observing the affect of vapour concentration, humidity and temperature to conductivity of sensor. There is no consideration about the channel length and thickness of polymer that will affect the conductivity. The main objective of this project is to design a polymer gate FET sensor which is able to detect acetone in human breath for low value of ppm. The design construction is based on the FET sensor coated with polymer on top as sensing layer. Channel length and thickness of polymer is studied whether it will affect the conductivity of sensor or not. CoventorWare software used as the simulation tool. From the experiment, CoventorWare software is found to be not suitable for simulation ofFET sensor based on conducting polymer as well. Even though the software is suitable for MicroElectroMechanicals(MEMS) design, but the design of FET sensor is failed to follow the exact fabrication process undergo in industry. | |
