Abstract
This study investigates the differences in knowledge and application of applied behaviour analysis (aba) among teachers and teacher assistants dealing with autism spectrum disorder (asd) students across private special education schools in kuwait. The mixed method research design was employed by combining both quantitative and qualitative studies to answer the research questions. The sample consisted of 328 teachers and teacher assistants for the quantitative study while 10 certified teachers and teacher assistants participated in the qualitative study. The researcher used two main research instruments a survey and a semi structure interview to answer research questions for both of the quantitative and qualitative studies. The survey was statistically analyzed using chi-square, kendal- tau test and other statistical tests while the semi structure interview was analyzed using thematic analysis developed from transcript of the interviews. The results showed that the participants varied in their knowledge and application of aba. There was a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers. The results also revealed a number of barriers related to the school systems, such as the lack of supervision and training.
