dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this project is to explore the efficiency and performance enhancement of permanent magnet brushless DC (PMBLDC) motor drive systems utilizing a four-switch inverter (FSI). With the growing demand for energy-efficient and reliable motor drive systems in various applications, the optimization of PMBLDC motor drives has gathered significant attention. The research problem addressed in this study revolves around the challenges associated with traditional PMBLDC motor drives, such as higher complexity, increased cost, and lower efficiency due to the utilization of conventional six-switch inverters. To tackle the research problem, an approach utilizing a four-switch inverter (FSI) topology is proposed. The FSI topology offers several advantages over conventional six-switch inverters, including reduced component count, lower cost, and improved efficiency. The proposed methodology involves the design, simulation, and experimental validation of the PMBLDC motor drive system using the FSI topology in MATLAB Simulink. Key results obtained from the study demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the FSI-based PMBLDC motor drive system. The experimental results corroborate the simulation findings. For 250 RPM at 1 Nm load, the rotor speed is 250.5 RPM, the stator current is 20 A, and the electromagnetic torque is 0.700 Nm; at no load, the rotor speed is 250.1 RPM, the stator current is 20 A, and the electromagnetic torque is 0.05 Nm. For 500 RPM at 1 Nm load, the rotor speed is 500.9 RPM, the stator current is 20 A, and the electromagnetic torque is 0.860 Nm; at no load, the rotor speed is 500.2 RPM, the stator current is 40 A, and the electromagnetic torque is 0.03 Nm. | |
