dc.description.abstractTasik Harapan is located in USM campus near Desasiswa Harapan . This lake has an area of 3156 m2 and have a total depth about 1.88m. After the lake was constructed , it became one of the cacthment area and has a capacity about 6000 m3 of water. This research was conducted to find the effectiveness of the aerator that has been place in the lake. The aerator was Bio-Reco 300 that has a power of 1.18 kW and 1500 rpm. Because of the aerator is not effective, the project management has changed the aerator in 17 August 2004. They have change the aerator to a larger aerator which is Bio-Reco 800 that has 1.5 kW of power with 3000 rpm. The research that has been conducted was related to the physical water physical quality in Tasik Harapan. The parameters that have been tested are pH, temperature, turbidity, color, suspended solid (SS), VSS,and heavy metal ( Mn, Zn, Cd, Fe). Besides getting the values that followed the INTERIM NATIONAL WATER QUALITY STANDARDS FOR MALAYSIA the objective of this experiment is also to get the variation on the data distribution for the lake the represented the sampling stations by using boxplots.
