Abstract
A wheelchair is used to help people who have the mobility problem that caused them cannot move freely and independently. From the previous manual wheelchair until now the electric-power wheelchair, the hand maneuver wheelchair is not dissatisfied or not suitable for the patient who experienced serious paralysis, especially for patients who have injuries to their arms and legs. They need the assistant people or manpower to push the wheelchair in order to leave the bed and move around, this is because they cannot control the wheelchair by their hand. Hence, the eyeball control of wheelchair use the alternative control method, eyeball movement to help patients to control the wheelchair by themselves. The purpose of the project is to design and develop an eyeball navigation system to enhance the mobility of those patients. At the same time, ensuring safety and accuracy are important for this wheelchair development. The measurement of threshold distance and accuracy analysis is carried out. The detected threshold distances by the ultrasonic sensor are measured to avoid collision and the eye command tracking accuracy analysis is also carried out. The accuracy is to evaluate the eye-tracking system to ensure a correct input signal is tracked while the time response of the wheelchair is important in controlling in wheelchair in real time, the incompatible time will cause the loss of control of the wheelchair. The eyeball control of wheelchair system is successfully implemented with the time response of less than 0.5s, 95.82% of overall eye-tracking accuracy, and 99.95% of threshold distances accuracy.
