Abstract
The idea of developing smart cities which can provide better solution to current problem that cause by the traffic congestion is to develop the smart traffic system. The popularity of vehicles used is keep increasing as it led to the traffic congestion frequently especially at the industrial area. The main aim is to optimize the traffic control to avoid traffic congestion and provide the emergency clearance for any emergency vehicle such as ambulance. The process involved in this project is information acquisition, development of decision-making process using sensor network, Internet of Thing (IoT) which enable the data transfer over network and the RFID detection of authorization. The function of first subsystem is to get surrounding data continuously using sensor and run the traffic without wasting time. The second subsystem is where the authorized emergency vehicle is detected using special RFID number and the system will automatically adjusting the traffic timing to make sure the lane is clear before it reaches the junction. The time and the number of the emergency vehicle detected will be recorded and stored in the Cloud server. The subsystem will be terminated after the signal from the registered RFID tag is no longer detected by the Main Unit. The unit that consist the RFID reader is the Emergency Unit and will be placed inside the emergency vehicle. The transition of the red light to green light will start with the red light blinking for 3 second before it turn green during the emergency clearance happen in order to notify the other vehicle when the emergency feature triggered. As a result, this system will reduce the traffic congestion as it operates in the optimize way and reduce the probability of deaths during the emergency situation where this system allows the emergency vehicle to smoothly arrive at the destination within estimate time or faster.
