Abstract
Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) is a novel of technology for mechanical to-electrical energy conversion. In fact, TENG is based on the contact electrification
of two dissimilar materials and electrostatic induction. TENG has been applied for different type of applications such as energy harvesting for low power electronics and sensing applications. It has a very high voltage output but a very low current output with high intrinsic impedance. In this project, the two different mode which is vertical contact-separation mode and single-electrode mode will be investigated, designed, and simulated. A modelling and simulation will be done by using COMSOL Multiphysics Software. Some parameter has been investigated to design TENG. Firstly, the type of dielectric material which are Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is investigated and compared to determine which type of dielectric is better for this TENG design. Next, different type of electrode consist of metal such as copper, aluminium and nylon is investigated to determine which type of metal can enhances the efficiency, stability, scalability, and integration capabilities of the TENG. The third parameter is the length of electrode. The length of electrode is also important in order to achieved the best quality of TENG. Therefore, different length is electrode is investigated to determine the suitable length to designed the most stable TENG. All the parameter investigated is carried out successfully using COMSOL Software.
