Abstract
Nowadays, the integration of design and motion analysis for electromechanical machine using CAD based simulation software is a prominent evolution in the machine design. The electromechanical design is appropriate today because many designers are involved with components and assemblies that contain elements like mechanical and electrical. The mechanical devices are belts, gears springs etc. The electrical devices are electric drive motors, solenoids etc. In this project, a three degree of freedom electromechanical machine is designed, simulated and integrated by using the SolidWorks, COSMOSMotion, CAD-to-SimMechanics translator, SimMechanics and Simulink. SolidWorks is used to design a virtual prototype of electromechanical machine. COSMOSMotion is used to analyze the kinematics behavior of assembly model and found out the colliding part during simulate assembly. The CAD-to-SimMechanics translator is used to generate a SimMechanics model from the existing CAD designs. SimMechanics is used to analyze the kinematics behavior of assembly model in Simulink environment and to visualize motion of the CAD assembly. By simulating SimMechanics model, kinematics constraints can be imposed to the model and the resulting motions can be studied. Finally, SimMechanics model is interfaced with a simple DC motor controller and PID control to demonstrate the performance of the virtual machine. By simulating SimMechanics model with controller models, input step is used to find the response on the motion of motors. In conclusion, all these softwares have to be combined dependently to design an electromechanical machine.
