Abstract
Power flow analysis is essential for power system planning, operation, maintenance, and control. During the planning phase, load flow studies help assess the loading levels of various power system components, ensuring they are neither underloaded nor overloaded, which is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. In the operational phase, these analyses optimize generator performance and manage system reliability by adjusting power outputs and reactive power support. The Load Flow Analysis Project focuses on developing a swift and precise method for solving power flow equations in electrical power systems. The project compares two prevalent methods: the Newton-Raphson method, known for its accuracy and robustness but computational intensity, and the Fast Decoupled Load Flow (FDLF) method, appreciated for its computational efficiency and speed, though slightly less accurate. The project aims to devise a hybrid method that integrates the strengths of both, achieving higher accuracy and faster convergence. Tests are conducted on several IEEE bus systems, including the 3-bus, 9-bus, 14-bus, and 30-bus systems. This system, with different bus types and interconnections, apply real-world operations and helps generate comprehensive data on iteration count, execution time and accuracy of the output result. Therefore, another new hybrid method was generated from this project with least number of iteration count and execution time.
